Comparison of adjuvant properties of chitosan during oral and subcutaneous immunization of mice with BSA

Vaccination is the best method to prevent spread of infectious diseases, its disadvantages are side effects. Potentially safe DNA, RNA or protein molecules possess antigenic properties, but low-immunogenic and therefore require conjugation with an adjuvant. The aim research was evaluate Chitosan (CS) potency as adjuvant compare effectiveness depending on route drug administration. experiments were carried out 3 groups BALB/c mice. Mice first group injected subcutaneously 20 µl a mixture CS (3.3 mg/kg) BSA (1.7 mg/kg). at same doses volume administered orally mice second experimental group. third – control unvaccinated Anti-BSA antibody levels measured by ELISA. Aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase activity cholesterol, creatinine urea determined in serum. It found that both subcutaneous mucosal immunizations provided 2-fold increase anti-BSA titers against background maintaining all biochemical blood parameters level physiological norm. However, AST serum oral-immunized elevated compared subcutaneous-immunized Serum cholesterol immunized reduced control. concluded oral immunization optimal for antigen-specific IgG response induction.
